Weekly WordPress Roundup #20

WordPress 4.3 “Billie” has already hit a huge number of downloads since this version was released two weeks ago. I’m impressed with the WP users this time. Maybe Billie Holiday is a favorite Jazz singer of numerous WordPressers.

Usually, we noticed that new updates sometimes not are taken seriously. WordPress core team informs and urges users to update the websites again and again.

The ignorance sometimes causes relative security concerns and can turn into major vulnerabilities.

We are grateful to the WordPress core for specifically focusing on the security issues. We are safe and sound. No vulnerabilities in two weeks after the release of WordPress 4.3.

The week was organically refreshing with no news from the core team.

Let’s look into our Weekly WordPress Roundup #20.

WordPress Twenty Sixteen

We discussed in detailed about the development of Twenty Sixteen theme in our Weekly WordPress Roundup #19. The theme will be released in the WordPress 4.4 version expected in December 2015. It will be the official theme from WordPress core for this year. WPTavern reported that Twenty Sixteen theme is available to download on Github and WordPress directory.

WordPress is a community project. It is a positive move to let the developers download the theme and help the core in resolving bugs. Twenty Sixteen was pulled 27 times and 23 bugs were reported. The theme will be simple. According to influencers, Twenty Sixteen will be resembling the Twenty Fourteen theme.

Action Bar at WordPress.com

New developments were seen at WordPress.com. An action bar is added to the right bottom corner of the screen. It will be showing the Customize button if you are login as the website admin. In case you are not following the website, the bar will become the Follow button. There are mixed reviews from the WordPress.com users about this new addition.
