WordPress version 4.1 was released a few days ago and I hope you have updated to the latest version. There are a lot of news and great stuff included in this release as I summed up in the post – WordPress 4.1 “Dinah” Released, What’s new?
Among other things there is an updated distraction-free writing feature so you can focus on your writing. Support for over 40 languages within your dashboard, plugin recommendations and much more plus the new default theme Twenty Fifteen.
You find the new default Twenty Fifteen theme under appearance tab, themes in your WordPress dashboard. Click to preview or activate the theme. You’re set and ready to go!
The things I like Twenty Fifteen is that it is a blog focused theme with minimalist and spacious layout. It features a clean and responsive design. Your website will look perfect from desktop to mobile and everything in between. The theme will adapt and adjust to fit in any screen.
Customizer and Custom header
You can use the Customizer to edit, modify and customize the theme as you like. Check out the five free featured color schemes and colorize the theme to your taste and liking.
You can also add a custom header image to spice up the look of your website through the Customizer.
Add featured images just like in the previous default themes and this feature is actually included in most themes nowadays.
Twenty Fifteen comes with support for two menus in two locations. They are displayed in the sidebar just below the website title.
I like Twenty Fifteen and I think tons of users will use this theme because it is a beautifully designed, fully functional and is suitable for a lot of bloggers. The theme is perfect for publishing informative and interesting articles, but you can nevertheless display featured beautiful images that will look awesome on your website.
Why not try the new default theme in WordPress – Twenty Fifteen on your own site? It’s right in your dashboard in WordPress! Or you can download it in the WordPress theme directory here.

- Responsive and adaptable layout
- 5 color schemes
- Featured images
- Support for all the post formats
- Social media profiles with crisp, perfectly-sized icons
