Choosing a Dedicated Server

Does it feel like your bandwidth always feel like it’s being clogged up and slowed easily? Do you want to make multiple websites but don’t want to have to separately customize every one of them? Are you looking for something that would let you customize the software for an entire server, not just one website? Would you like to have nearly complete control over who views what you are doing online? If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions then continue reading. A dedicated server might be the perfect solution for you.

What is it?

There are many online companies out there who offer people from all over the world the chance to have their own server. Just imagine having a server that is dedicated specifically to your company. You get to customize the server so that it works just like you want it. No jumping through hoops with other web page companies to try and customize your website within their specifications. Dedicated servers are single web servers within a network of computers, large or small. They are most often used by larger companies who don’t want to have to be competing for bandwidth with all of the other web pages out there.

Making a Chain of Websites

When you create your own domain, you can customize it to be pretty much any way you need it to be. You can even create multiple sites connecting together through your personal server. This can come in handy if you have company break offs in multiple places. For example, let’s pretend that someone has a business called, “Jimmy Jones Plumbers Inc.” that has a chain of dealerships. If Mr. Jimmy Jones wanted, he could have “www.jimmyjonesplumbers.com” be his main server and have other websites spread out underneath. So if he has a dealership in Las Vegas, he could have a website called “www.jimmyjonesplumberslasvegas.com”.

Maybe he has another outlet in Wisconsin. He could make another website specifically for that one too and call it “www.jimmyjonesplumberswisconsin.com”. This process can be repeated for any outlet that Mr. Jimmy Jones had, and every one of his websites can connect directly back to the parent website. This would help all of the websites stay uniform and much easier to keep track of than if you only rented websites.

Other Advantages

One of the best advantages to having your own server is the fact that you can customize the hardware setup and the software so that it is exactly what you need. Another advantage is that you don’t have to share bandwidth with so many websites out there. So you can have faster access and customer service. You also have added stability because you are given so much control over what happens on your own server. On the other hand, if you are just one business sharing a server with many, many others, your site might run slowly or not be able to load at all because there are so many others visiting the other sites you share with.

If you have your own personal server, you are also able to boost security. These are just a glimpse of the benefits you can have with a dedicated server. It’s the perfect solution to creating web pages for a large business.
